No
marriage, no matter how strong and vibrant, is immune to struggle and
pain. The statistics tell the staggering truth. One out of every two
marriages ends in divorce.
Wyoming
holds the 5th highest divorce
rate in the nation. 39% of marriages in the state of Wyoming
last less than 5 years.
Strong, loving and lasting marriages do not just happen.
Both
partners have to work very hard to love and live with each other in the
everyday, ordinary challenges and circumstances of life. Life
assails marriage relationships in a myriad of ways. Children
are born, expectations go unmet, jobs change or end, financial
difficulties arise, illness affects family members, betrayal takes place,
spouses grow tired, apathetic and withdraw from one another.
The Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couples Education shares these
hopeful truths…

Marriage
is the foundation of the family and the family is the foundation
of society. If we strengthen the marriage, we
strengthen the family, we
strengthen the children and we strengthen the community.”
“…Women
and men in healthy, intact marriages are healthier,
wealthier and happier.
Children raised in such marriages are less likely to
become pregnant as
teens, be physically abused, commit crimes, abuse drugs and
alcohol, fail
in school or experience a divorce of their own.
